The following Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) information is provided to allow our families to see the positive progress our students are making in achievement. Please keep in mind that the ITBS is a norm-referenced standardized test. A norm-referenced test is one in which the results of an individual student, or a grade level class cohort, is compared to the scores of a pre-determined group of peer level students, either of the same chronological age, or the same grade level. As such, the ITBS is reported as percentiles. When reading the scores, bear in mind the median percentile is 50, with the "average" range between the 25th percentile and the 75th percentile. Therefore, any score under 25 would be deemed "below average", and any score above 75 would be deemed "above average." Thus, a composite score of 77 means two things: the class scored higher than 77 percent of a similar cohort of students from the normative group; and the score is deemed "above average" for the class composite. Also, please be aware that it the policy of All Saints Catholic School to report the composite scores for all grade levels without disaggregating the scores of students with special needs.
